Settling into our new orbit

We are finally settling into the new place, and getting life organized again. The new equipment should be arriving in the next week or 2, and then we’ll really be ready to roll!  The staff here is working hard to get up to speed on the equipment, smoothing out scheduling issues, and trying to cover all our bases.

As we get settled, how about you? Are you getting settled into 2011?  What would you like to achieve this year? Some simple tips for helping you stick with your New Years’ Resolution:

1. Write it down and post is somewhere. Many times we forget about our goals, so seeing, on a daily basis, what you want to achieve helps immensely.

2. Tell someone.  This helps hold you accountable for your new goal.

3. Set small goals, as well as the big ones.  What are you going to do today, this week, over the next 2 weeks, this month to get you there?  Many times people look at the big picture without going into the detail.  Set these small goals, and the big ones will happen.

4. Phrase your goals positively. Yep, even the way we think about our goals is important.  Try to phrase it so you are working toward  something (“I will do 30 min of exercise 5x/week) instead of avoiding it (“I’m never going to Starbucks again.”)

5. Goals should be SMART. this means they are specific (“I will run a 5k this year” vs. “I will get fit); measurable (we can measure the distance you ran); action oriented (there’s stuff you have to do to get there – ie, a plan of doing); realistic/relevant (is it realistic for you to run a 5k?); and timed (pick a race that you plan to do, pay the entry fee; you need to have a set date you will have this finished by).  Making your goals SMART allows you to track your progress toward that goal.  “Getting fit” is awfully hard to define and measure without further clarification.

Everything under the Moon

Please remember, and be kind to your massage therapist & trainer. We deal with several clients a day, and if someone comes in sick, this means not only the possibility of the staff getting sick, but our other clients as well. Even though we wash/sanitize our hands regularly before, during & after sessions, some germs just don’t give up. If one of us catches it, we may be unable to help those that need ourservices. Please be pro-active! We will reschedule you at the next available slot. Thanks.

If you need to cancel your appointment, please try to give at least 24 hours of notice, although we do understand that there are times last minute emergencies happen.

Water! Amber Moon Studio has bottled water in the frig for all our clients when you come for your session – especially after massages. If we forget to offer you a bottle, please feel free to ask! You can also ask for one anytime you are here.

The format of this newsletter is going to be changing over the next few months, to make it quicker for you to read and process.  We’ll be going to a bi-weekly format.  Feel free to give us your opinion and feedback – this newsletter is all about educating & informing YOU!

We’re getting ready to revamp our website. Please has a sense of humor as we do this!
